Sex, Lies and Videotapes…

Well, showbiz land for the moment. This issue seems to be what’s taking a more larger coverage than any other news in town obviously because anywhere you go, sex sells. Hahahah! I just watched on YouTube this video of Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho who were both dancing almost naked to the tune of “Careless Whisper”. This video is everywhere and last Sunday I saw this interview of Katrina in tears about the video being released to the public. So sad. I am actually sad for her. Her career took a nosedive when this was made public. Actually it started going down when her affair with Dr. Hayden Kho became public. What is more alarming is the fact that there seems to be more video scandals of Hayden with other women. Right now it seems that Hayden has gotten back together with the lady doctor, Dr. Vicki Belo of Belo Medical Group. They were seen in the airport together. It seems that Katrina is the most aggrieved party in this situation. Too bad for her she got in a relationship with Hayden when in fact he was still in one with Vicki. Now her reputation and career are on the line. A friend even told me that the video is already being sold in Baclaran. Wow! Talk about news traveling fast. Anyway, I just think that with this, people would be more careful in choosing their sex partners and make sure your privacy will always be guarded.

Daily Travel Diary: A surprising and somewhat scary encounter in the streets of Metro Manila

I have a new route ever since last week, courtesy of my workmate J who taught me that I can save more by doing this route. Instead of me stopping at Coastal Uniwide mall everyday and catching a bus going to Washington, she told me to just stop at Buendia where the crossroad is. From there I walk about 5 minutes and then catch a jeepney going to my workplace and it saves me around 7PHP everyday. So I decided to take this route because it would amount to around 70PHP per 10 days. Not bad at all. I can use that 70 for other stuff. Anyway, as I was walking going to the jeepney stand, I had to pass thru all these empty and old buildings and in my walk an old guy stops me. He is well dressed, not that old and I think he was a foreigner but the biggest stamp that he has on my memory is that his head was actually bleeding. Super bleeding red, bleeding blood and he asked me to stop and look at him while he was wiping it to make sure that there was none left after he wiped it all off. I was backing off as I was looking at him and I was up and about and ready to run. You can’t be too sure these days about how crazy people are and I was just so scared at the fact that he had a gash that was around 4 inches high and obviously needed stitches but that he was just ignoring them and wiping the blood off. Luckily it was daytime and there were a lot of people around to help me if ever…

Bloggers Meet and Greet for BB Gandanghari

I was fortunate enough to be invited to this event by SexyMom aka Dine Racoma of “the D Spot”. She organized this event together with Noemi Lardizabal-Dado of “About My Recovery”.Dine Racoma aka SexyMom invited me to the event via PLURK. Plurk has become a very interesting addition to my life as well as to my friends’ life. I am excited about the event to be held tomorrow, March 14, 2009 from 3:00PM-5:00PM at Mag:net in Bonifacio High Street. Only 80 bloggers are expected and I think quite a good number have signed up. I am very excited and looking forward to meeting Ms. Gandanghari. I am trying to figure out her persona and am very interested in it. I do not know if I will like her since I don’t know her personally nor have had any personal interaction with her so come Saturday I will try and get to know the BB Gandanghari that everyone is so enamored of. As of this writing though courtesy of Boy and Kris’ SNN show, I know that BB is still in Bohol at the Eskaya resort with girlfriends Pops Fernandez and Gretchen Barreto.

Excited to meet you tomorrow BB! Thanks to Noemi and Dine for organizing the said event.

Artist on Blog: Clifford Remolador

The world is small and it is getting smaller everyday. I happen to know Clifford (kuya cliff to me) through a very good friend of mine, friend L. I never thought that when she introduced Clifford that we actually belonged to the same alma mater. Another UP Cebu graduate of Fine Arts. He has been a good friend together with friend L that I am so grateful to have made their acquaintance. Clifford is such a silent guy but beneath the silent facade runs the heart of a true artist and a musician at that. But wait, there is more he is also into website design and so many other things that with him his talent just overflows. Very, very talented and good person. He is my artist feature for this week.

kuyacliffName: Clifford Remolador

Lives in: Lapu-Lapu Cebu

And here is our Q&A part…

Where do you get inspiration for your art?

Clifford: My art is inspired by the conditions of the people, as well as their struggles and triumphs.

What do you hope to do or inspire with your art?

Clifford: As an artist and activist, it is a responsibility to ignite the consciousness of the people – especially the masses – regarding the country’s economic conditions. I hope to organize fellow artists – not only from my lines of expertise (visual arts and music) but also from other artistic disciplines – and inspire them to use their creative talents as a medium to encourage people to become more aware, conscious, critical and progressive.

Which artists influence/d your art?

Clifford: For visual arts, my style was influenced by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh, and Munch. From our local artists, I also like the works of Malang, Botong Francisco, Martino Abellana, Romulo Galicano, and Raymund Fernandez. As for the theme, I’m more influenced with works of social realist painters like Diego Rivera.

For music, my influences include The Beatles, Rolling Stones, U2, Antonio Forcione, Carlos Santana, Slash, Gary, Granada, Joey Ayala, The Jerks, and Yano.

All of his website design projects are still in construction and I will post the websites later on after they have been finished.

Global Warming: Philippines Setting

global-warmingWhat we have been doing to mother nature for the past hundreds of years is coming back to haunt us. Today right here in the Philippines we see an increasing rate in our temperatures over the summer. Just these past few weeks we have had temperatures rising to 34 degrees and Summer seems to be starting early. Well I see these as effects of global warming because of what mankind has and is doing to our mother Earth. All over the world, the sea level has been rising as what I heard and saw reported on TV earlier today and also a part of Mauritania is turning into a desert that their government is already alarmed and is making plans to return the greenery there once was. I hope that we all realize the bad that we are doing and start saving our Mother Earth for she is one and only and she needs to be saved in order for us to be saved. Somehow I see that floods wiping out entire civilizations might come to pass and we might be building a bad future for our children.

Join hands everyone to make our Earth cleaner and greener. Let us do our part however small it is. Big things start small. Let us start to recycle and be mindful of our trash. They might come back to haunt us…

Daily Travel Thought: ‘Barkers” and their profession

As a daily commuter in Philippine traffic, you can’t help but notice that there are these people shouting out the route of the passenger bus or jeepney that happens to be along and ferries people to these commuter vehicles. These are the people that you call, “the barkers”. They range from men, women and children and their only job for the rest of the day is to call out the routes so that people will get aboard the commuter vehicles. Some are so violent at times when the driver or the conductor doesn’t give them anything after they have called and called out to people. Personally I think that we really don’t need them and that they are just an added expense to the drivers that make their living. I mean, commuters/passengers regardless if they are called out to or not will always ride the buses or jeepneys to get to work and to go home or just to be wherever they want to be. These barkers are sometimes abusive of the drivers. Once I was riding on this bus wherein the barker who was calling out rode inside the bus and would not go down unless the bus conductor gave him 50PHP in exchange for his services. I mean cmon. People will always ride the buses or jeeps whether these barkers call out or not. I think that they just want the easy job hence they resort to this kind of profession which is really not needed at all. People are not dumb and the drivers have their conductors to call out to passengers. So they are just really for me an added expense and sometimes they can be so violent and abusive if not given what they want.
