The Process of a New Job

Hello dear readers, I am sure that you have missed me… I am sorry to have not been able to update recently here because I have been quite busy with new things. As of March 31st of this year my job as executive consultant ended and the 2 weeks before it did I already had an inkling that I was coming to my end in that industry. I wasn’t really looking around but a friend texted me that he needed Operations Managers and Team Leaders for his australian telco account and so I replied that I was interested. He asked for my resume and so I sent it to him via email. After 2 days, I got a text message saying that I was scheduled for an exam and interview on the Monday of the last week of March. Eagerly I took the day off and went to the venue of the interview and exam. I haven’t been through job processes as of late because I normally just go at them one at a time. So, I got there just in the nick of time and then began the process. They started first with an IQ exam. Gosh, I was thinking to myself that what if I didn’t pass. It would be so bad of me. I haven’t taken an IQ exam since like 2-3 years ago. Well, I did pass it after 30 minutes of slaving over the answers to that exam. Then came an English exam wherein you had to continue the phrase to make it into a passable sentence and the one phrase that struck out was “ Your sex life is ___________________”. Talk about funny phrases. I laughingly finished the whole test and was asked to wait for the interview. I got interviewed after like 3 hours or so. Me and some other girl were the last to be interviewed. As I got ready for my turn, my hands were sweating cold buckets…I was kind of scared and excited about the interview. Normally though I do well on interviews but still I could not get over my fear and anticipation of them especially if the one interviewing you is a complete stranger. My interviewer was a guy who had spectacles on and the funniest part of it all is the fact that I was wearing shades because my eye was swelling because of an insect bite. I had to keep myself from laughing as I was explaining to him why I could not take my glasses of because I was worried that he might be distracted by my swollen eye. I breezed through it and was asked to wait for a text from them the very next week. Monday came and they invited me the next day for the final interview at one of their offices and I got interviewed by an operations manager and then after we finished the interview an HR associate was asked to “take good care of me”. After that I was led to an office where I was asked to complete my requirements and therein I got the job. I haven’t started yet but I am excited for a new change once again.

My first TV appearance: On GMA

Yesterday, was a Sunday and it was the day that mom and I set aside so that we can visit Ongpin at Binondo. Manila’s chinatown. We reached our destination after 2 hours in transit taking into consideration traffic time. We arrived in Sta. Cruz and proceeded to find out where Chinatown was located. I was just on the lookout to see the red lanterns that signified festivities and I was sure that it was where we were headed. My mom is 50% Chinese that is why she grew up celebrating Chinese New Year and so loves everything Chinese. I think that she had passed on that trait to me. I was going to look for a lucky charm for Z as well. My mom was going to buy tikoy (glutinous rice) that Chinese usually have on Chinese New Year. Our destination for the tikoy was Eng Bee Tin’s chain of Chinese deli shops. We had heard that if you wanted the best tasting hopia and tikoy that they were the place to go so off we went in search of the legendary store. We found it after a few minutes of walking and luckily they also had a restaurant inside so we ate lunch there. They had machang (rice wrapped in a leaf with meat inside), and lots of other Chinese food that me and my mom had a fun time eating. Outside there were rows and rows of boxes of tikoy ranging from plain white, strawberry, pandan, ube, brown and butterscotch. They revolutionized tikoy. So when we were looking around for other things for Chinese New Year inside the store, there was a GMA camera and crew taking videos. We didn’t know that they were shooting but nonetheless I put up my brightest smile and lo and behold during last night’s GMA weekender report, they did show the video clip and my mom and me were a part of it. Am an ABS-CBN person but hey I got to love GMA for putting me and my mom on its screen. We both had a good laugh about it.

Where I get my French Cuisine!!!

Am sure all of you are drooling just with the mere mention of a french culinary delight. Lucky me I have a French grand aunt who cooks really well and while I was in CDEO, she gave me another incentive to visit there this coming Christmas. We had dinner at their place and got treated to a dinner, of course with red wine. The French just adore their wines. Spending quality time with family and with groasted crown of pork ribsood food is just on the top of my I LIKE list…

You can just see that Crown of Pork Ribs, baked in the oven with spices….Oh la la!

Of teething and Teeth…

Zoe is now approaching her 11th month in our world and she is fast growing. Height wise, weight wise and of course intellectual-wise. She shows signs of being a feisty little girl who has little amounts of hair like me when I was still a baby. Like her, I had a little hair until I reached my first year and my mom made me

bald. I am soon going to follow in that tradition of being bald and will revisit it on Zoe by making her bald on her 1st year. She is now teething and currently has sprouted a total of 4 teeth. 2 down and 2 up. She bites me constantly and also the other members of our household. I have brought her some organic toothpaste (Earth’s Best here at Rustan’s Makati) so that I can start her early on dental health. I am kind of anal in things about Zoe. The toothpaste came with a gum brush too. Pretty convenient and nice. We have fun brushing. She has fun licking and biting on the brush and she likes the taste of the toothpaste. She makes funny faces all the time and is generally a very happy child. No long crying bouts! I am thankful for that. I think that good habits should be started early on and what better timing than now before she turns 1. Happy brushing!

P.S. The organic toothpaste for all the mothers out there cost around Php 200 ++. It will last you a long time though because you only use pea-sized amounts.

zoe at 8 months…

Chantelle Zoe Enerio aka Zoe or Chaz, is the love of my life and the reason why every day seems to be so nice. Even until now I still marvel at the power that gave her to me for safekeeping and I hope and I pray that even if I am a single traveler that I will be able to be a good guide for her.

Some milestones on her 8th month…

  • she can already say ma-ma and pa-pa…(although id rather have her forget the latter! ).

  • she can sit on her own without support.

  • she has 2 small front teeth now growing on the bottom part of her mouth.

  • she recognizes people, although she can already tell by her 6th month.

  • she dances to some tunes that I invent and she delights all her audiences.

I am thankful that she is a happy child and she has a happy disposition. I thank God everyday for the gift of zoe to me and my family.

The Nursing Board Results for 2008

The Nursing Board Exam results are already out. Whew! I was quite relieved with the results…as if I was a nursing student. My sister actually was the one who took it and thankfully she passed it. Thank God! I had no doubt of course. I knew how she studied for it and how she really wanted it but of course we are never really sure until last week when the results came out and I saw her name in a website(http://www.prcboardexamresults.com/nle-june-2008-passers-e/). You can check it out and see if you have any family members or relatives who also took it.

Congratulations to the 2008 passers.
