My Oatmeal Diet: A lunch treat!

instant-original-detailsflbashxIn my quest to really stick to a diet that is good and will do wonders for my weight as well as for my health I started eating oatmeal for the past 2 weeks. I eat it in lieu of a complete lunch and it actually feels good that now when I rarely do eat lunch, my stomach tells me that it doesn’t want the additional weight. I have gotten used to the OATS. Many studies say that eating oats lowers your cholesterol and helps with your weight management. I would like to think so. Although I am not really overweight or anything, I have always dreamed to be around a 100LBS only. My weight in high school was just 98LBS and I was very skinny way back then. I want to thin out a little as well as keep myself healthy because really the most important thing that we should think about is our health because without it, we would be useless. Health is very important and I think that Filipinos have actually been on the way to not eating healthy lately as per recent studies that say that Filipinos nowadays are getting more obese than they were a couple of years ago. I like this oatmeal eating diet. It actually does not cost much and gives me more a better cholesterol level. Now, I am planning to have it for lunch and for dinner before 6pm.

So guys and gals, join me in my Oatmeal crusade…hehehehe!

Note: This is not for the faint of heart. hahahhahaha! :)

4th Grader Dies in an Accident Yesterday!

A 4th grader boy yesterday got killed accidentally when a van hit him inside the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City. The victim’s name is Julian Carlo Miguel Alcantara and he was 10 years old. He was brought to the hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the New Era Hospital. He was walking along with his 65-year old nanny when they were hit by a van. The driver of the van was also a mom who was trying to pick up her son but instead got in a tragic accident with another mom’s son. As a mom, I feel this. The death of an innocent boy in this tragic accident is very sad for me. And to think he was only 10 years old. I’m sure that his mother is going to be traumatized. The driver of the van who hit the boy and the nanny was actually hysterical too when she was brought to the police station. The nanny sustained several fractures but has survived the accident. This is really saddening and very traumatizing for all those who witnessed the accident inside the campus. God bless the poor boy’s soul. May he rest in peace and may he be surrounded by angels.

Daily Travel Thought: Thinking Like a Millionaire

piggy-bankWe all know that money is something that we cannot live without added to that is the rising costs of everyday living and you know that you have to earn really well to be able to have a lifestyle that you desire. I got this smart tip from Ruffy and Ai’s morning show yesterday while riding the bus. They had pageant title holders as their guest and the segment that I caught was the one with Miriam Quiambao as their guest. I have always admired her because I think that she is a very smart and yet a very interesting woman who goes after her dreams. She went through a trying time after her short marriage to her ex husband but she has bounced back so well and is now on her own and living her life. She shares with the hosts a bit of advice that I’m sure can actually help out a lot of people out there striving to make ends meet and hoping to be entrepreneurs one day.

She said that in order to be a millionaire someday you need to start thinking like one and millionaires actually multi manage their money in a lot of different ways. So she told Ruffa and Ai that she actually keeps jars in her bedroom labeled with different allocations for each jar. Here is what she has: LTS (Long term savings – 10% for business starting), Educ. (Education – 10%), NECC (Daily Neccesities – 50% or more depending on your need), FUN (fun savings – 10% anything that you might want to spend on yourself or a trip) and that was about it. She has got I think 1 more jar that I was not able to remember but I guess that the ones that I listed would be enough and I plan to start on my own soon. Probably this end of the month. We all go from paycheck to paycheck and this kind of thinking is actually very smart and very good advice and we all should actually do it. We might be able to minimize our debts this way and have a more fruitful life.

This kind of tip is actually just a lot of common sense that we sometimes forget to do. It should be the case that after ever salary comes in we should be able to spare at least 5-20% of the total amount and let it go to our nest egg (savings). Hopefully we can always manage our funds.

So I hope that what I shared will be able to help others out there who want to be financially free.

American Idol 2009: The latest update

Danny Gokey

Danny Gokey

Well, American Idol 2009 has started its eliminations to the top finalists for this year. Like last year I avidly followed the rise of a Filipina who was one of those finalists, Ramiel Malubay. She visited us here in the Philippines and I think did a couple of shows with our local singers here. Such is the appeal of American Idol to all those in the US. I think that the competition presents a way for everybody to be given a chance to perform and show off their prowess with their vocal cords and possibly be Americas next famous voice. For this year, I don’t see anyone who is Filipino or of Filipino descent going into the finals but hey, its ok I am still watching it because it is quite interesting to me. From the weird mix of singers up to Simon Cowell’s sarcastic judging of the participants and of course don’t forget the drama involved as well. The tears and happy smiles that you get to see after each elimination round is something else and of course we all have our favorites but there was this one finalist who really stood out and struck me. It was the Bikini Girl. Yes, she has a different presentation altogether and I do hope she has the vocal power to back it up. For the meantime though, here are the 3 first finalists of American Idol 2009: Alexis Grace, the soulful 21-year-old single mother from Memphis, Tenn.; Michael Sarver, 27-year-old oil rig worker from Jasper, Texas; and Danny Gokey, the 28-year-old church music director from Milwaukee. Am glad that they got chosen and look forward to awesome performances by these 3 that America most voted for in the first round of choosing for the top finalists.

Good Luck Finalists!!!

Artist on Blog: Ana Knicolai Mendoza

Here is my featured artist for the week, also one of my very good friends way back in college up til l now. Ana, and by the way I call her Ate Ana. Hahahahha! (it’s a long standing joke between me and her). She is one of those people I can call artists, in the sense that she reinvents herself in other mediums aside from her paintings. She also does body art and she is also a big supporter of local artists( painters, bands and etc.).

Here is her factbit:

Name: Sigwada Knicolai Mendoza but she is more known as Ana Mendoza ( Ate Ana, did I get your name right?) :) angels1

Nationality: Filipino

Lives in: Metro Manila

Like me and friend Paul we all studied in the University of the Philippines Cebu College and of course became friends there.

The object of her paintings has always been angels. Angels of all kinds. Her artist statement is “I Dream of Imperfection, for when dreams come out stained but not stale for me it is art.” I was not able to ask her my 3 question factbit like Paul but if you visit her website you will get everything from there. So please do visit Ana’s site at www.sigwadaknicolai.tk.

Do take time out to check out her artworks. She is currently showing her art together with some other artists at the Blue Line Gallery Rustans at Ayala Avenue until the 27th of February entitled SUBLIMINAL COSMOS. If you are based in Manila, do check them out if you have time.

When I Met U: My Review

Well, I watched the movie last Friday with friend BV. Last full show of the eveningkc-concepcion-richard-gutierrez1 at Glorietta. We both were eagerly anticipating the movie and after stuffing ourselves with some chicken pesto pizza that friend BV brought with her, we went inside for our movie. Oh yes, the plot was nothing new as it was really reminiscent of the Harrison Ford and Anna Heche movie a while back although they just had different twists but basically it was quite the same. In this movie though, friend BV and I eagerly cheered on Richard and how gorgeous he looked on screen. I can’t help it. He really does look good and he and KC make such a good pair. I have nothing but KUDOS for their loveteam. They work and look good together. This time around, the movie was less corny and the scenes were better than the their first movie. Richard’s acting seemed to have improved and KC’s too although KC for me still felt like she was overdoing on the drama part. I don’t know but like friend BV and I talked about it, there is something iffy with the way KC cries. This movie is better than the first one that they made and even though the setting was not as grand, the movie I think is better than the first one. Their loveteam is something that I like but the movie again still felt like a let-down but at least friend BV and I were not snickering in our seats this time around. We were just oohhhiinng and aaahhhinnng over Richard!

Well, the movie was not a total waste…they do have onscreen and offsreen chemistry, methinks!
